Don Jazzy’s real name is Michael Collins Ajereh. He was born on November 26, 1982, in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. He is of Igbo descent. He was raised in Ajegunle, a suburb of Lagos. His interest in music began at a young age, and he began to experiment with different musical styles. By his early teens, he was already making beats and producing songs for local artists.

His family moved from Abia State to Ajegunle, Lagos where he was raised. He had his conventional primary, secondary and higher education in Lagos but developed an interest in music at a tender age.
