About Richard Van Loo Scholarships
The Richard Van Loo Scholarships are a group of scholarships named in honor of Richard Van Loo, a longtime professor and dean at the University of California, Davis. The scholarships are designed to support students who demonstrate academic excellence, a commitment to public service, and a passion for making a difference in the world.
The scholarships are available to students who are attending any of the 10 UC campuses, and they cover a wide range of fields of study. The scholarships are competitive, and recipients are selected based on a combination of academic merit, financial need, and extracurricular involvement.
The Scholarship, valued at $5,000 for the 2023/2024 academic year, is awarded annually to an outstanding international student from an African country. The award was endowed in 2005 by friends, family and colleagues in honour of Richard J. Van Loon, Carleton’s 10th President.

The Richard J.
